Vice President of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation and Head of the Department of self-defence for the army, police and the security companies.

On 26th – 29th November 2009 in Athens, Greece, was held the Juniors & Aspirants Ju-Jitsu World Championship. At the time of the Championship was organized a Congress of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation, at which the Rules of the Department of self-defence for the army, police and security companies were officially adopted. There was taken a decision to organize a Seminar on the security self-defence training of instructors and referees.

On 10th December 2009 in Madrid, Spain, a meeting was held between the Head of the Security Self-Defence Department – Tomo Borissov, and the Director of the Local Police Academy Madrid, Spain – Alberto Carre?o, the Police Operations Coordinator at the Local Police Academy Madrid, Spain – Angel Luis Bravo, the JJIF General Secretary – Rossitsa Stateva, and the Security Self-Defence Instructor at the Local Police Academy Madrid, Spain – Eusebio Sanchez.

Department - Self-Defence for the Army, Police and Security Companies (Security Self-Defence)

JJIF - Ju-Jitsu International Federation was established in 1977 as a European Union of the national Ju-Jitsu federations. Subsequently, in 1986 it was transformed into an International Federation. At the Federation Congress held on 26th November 2008, Tomo Borissov - President of the Bulgarian Ju-Jitsu Federation was elected Vice President of JJIF. The JJIF Board of Directors paid extremely great attention to the further promotion and mass popularisation of Ju-Jitsu not only as a sport, but also as self-defence techniques on the various continents. At one of its meetings, the Board of the Directors took a decision to establish a special department at JJIF to develop the Ju-Jitsu self-defence techniques, the so-called security self-defence, which can be practically applied in the in the training and the physical preparation of the officers at the army, police, security companies, as well as in the self-defence and enhancing the self-confidence and personal prestige of the children and citizens. As Vice President of JJIF, Tomo Borissov has been authorized to head the newly established Department of self-defence for the army, police and security companies.

On 9th – 12th July 2009 in Bad B l a k e n b u r g , Germany, at the summer camp of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation, a meeting was organized with the participation of experts with the aim of specifying the contents and the parameters of the discipline “Self-Defence for the army, police and security companies”.

In July 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria, was organized the first seminar with the participation of the JJIF President - Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, the JJIF Vice President - Tomo Borissov, the JJIF General Secretary - Rossitsa Stateva, and the self-defence and Ju-Jitsu instructors - Eusebio Sanchez - Security Self-Defence Instructor at the Police Academy - Madrid, Spain, J?rg Schmidt - Director of Sports for the law enforcement bodies at the German Ju-Jutsu Federation, and Toni Petrov - Chief Instructor at the Po- lice, Bulgaria.
